Overall the site was to expensive for a military campground but no doubt it is based on location location location. It is clean and on the water. We were in a 28' class A motohome. We went there for our church picnic and thoroughly enjoyed the time. A great campground to see the sights of DC. The one at the bottom of the hill was way off. All visitors without a Department of Defense ID card must use Tulley Gate and is open 0500-2100, 7 days a week. They next day, they were allowed to move back into the campground and into one of the sites that sat empty. Bathrooms are clean and new and the sites are cement and level. The park also has hundreds of outdoor activities for guests to enjoy during their stays. Staff at the rec center were very nice and helpful. Wifi internet is atrocious. Everything was clean and shiny. The sites boast phone and internet hookups and are not far from nearby metropolitan areas. Very dog friendly. I grew up running here. Pricing will vary. Alexandria is just a few miles from Washington D.C., making it one of the most obvious points of interest on aVirginia road trip.
