I wouldnt reccomend removing them. In the end it all depends on your setup but if you experience wheel hop you know what to do.

However the car does bite hard and traction is wonderful until the tires give. You can pick up non adjustable uppers and lowers for $140 from LMR. I don't know if I've seen a 7.5inch rear end that has them.

If you are, I have a set of mounts, modified with a clamping system to stop the spring from working loose and lowering your ride height that you can have. You can probably find a good used MAC set for $100 on different mustang forums. its what works,i have all solid bushing made from machine shop.i havent had wheelhop yet,but it sure isnt like using rubbers either.
Then put some wider rims and tires on.
With a solid bushing or rod end installed the obvious trade off is more noise transmitted into the chassis and the cost of replacement as the rod ends would have a much higher rate of wear.
No wheel hop either. I had really bad wheelhop just in street driving.
Get rid of the rubber bushings and you can get rid of the quad shocks.

Under acceleration, the pinion gear tries to climb the ring gear, because it can not, the forces rotate the front of the differential upward until the limit of the defection in the control arm bushing is reached, at that point the differential snaps back downward resulting in the dreaded wheel hop. There is nothing wrong with lift bars other than a plethora of misinformation about them.

My 88 GT had Steeda Aluminum LCA's, stock uppers and wheelhopped bad enough to break one of the parking lights without quads, with quads it was smooth. Removal does depend upon the total rear suspension package; it is an experiment. FFR 5353K, 408W, TKO 500, 2015 IRS w/ 315 gear, Breeze QA1 DA coilovers front and rear, APE hardtop, Forte front swaybar.
Mk 4 Base 7721, 331, Holley Sniper EFI, T5, 355 traction lock, rear disc, heater, wipers, foot well vents, whitby soft top, dropped trunk floor and more. They say the lift bars are recommended for drag and race applications, which I don't really do.
Outside of Ford, none. Yes I still have a 4-link rear end but the Edelbrock uppers and MM lowers on my Stang have 3-piece urethane bushings on one end and spherical bearings (heim joints) on the other.
Upgrading your quad shocks while you're at it wont hurt, considering you're already upgrading everything else. 1994 GT. Any good solid lower and adjustable upper with good bushings (poly not rubber) will greatly impact how the rear of the car works. JavaScript is disabled. Ford only installed them as a bandaid to prevent wheel hop because the bushings on the stock control arms are so sh##e. PM me with your address if interested. You dont need quad shocks, get stiffer springs and you should be fine. What lower control arms, if any, do I need to use to be able to remove the quad shock on a 93 mustang?

In my opinion the 3-link is a big improvement for these cars.
I know a lot of folks say you don't need them BUT, they don't hurt and they will help eliminate a potential annoying condition.

Installation of most aftermarket rear lower control arms will usually eliminate enough of the deflection to allow removal of the quad shocks. every parts store in the country has them, I know for a fact that Napa sells them because I just bought a set 2 months ago. The considerable amount of deflection allowed by the eight stock rubber rear control arm bushings of the Mustang four-link let the axle wind up, and then rotate back, in a cyclic manner. James, Take them off and put them in the trash. Dusting off this old but good collection of quotes: unless there is an elimination of the factory uppers due to the addition of a torque arm or panhard bar the quads should stay. So I'm still acquiring parts from a variety of sources instead of a single donor.

i was one of the victims of the internet myth that when aftermarket control arms are added the quads should go. I have Granatelli/JD's performance arms and I had terrible wheel hop last time at the strip.

morenpower helps keep wheel speed up and reduces hop. The axle end mount is a permanent welded on part of the axle housing.

On earlier IRS builds utilizing the T Bird knuckles unless you converted to urethane bushings you could experience wheel hop with big HP. I had zero wheel hop in my T-bird with stock control arms and very close to stock Mustang power. I had really bad wheelhop just in street driving.

3 link greatly improves the ride and handling. If there isn't a substantial amount of resistance, they are bad.

But I still get some fishtailing when I drive irresponsibly--HA, so I just bought a set of Gabriel quads to replace my well-worn (108K miles) stockers---they DO make a difference.
This assumes the upper and lower control arm torque boxes are in good shape. i think mine are bad and cant find new ones. You do not want solid bushings anywhere in the rear suspension. If one were to go to solid bushings, IE, spherical rod ends, then pinion angle can be set to 0* as the differential housing is not rotating. I have a set of fully adjustable team z street beast control arms. I removed the quad shocks as they were completely worn out, I needed space for the nitto555 275 wide tires.
Because the differential housing rotates, this necessitates the use 1.5-2* of pinion down angle to prevent driveshaft u-joint bind under hard acceleration.
You may find a donor you don't have to take home. dont go lift bars, I wouldnt recommend poly bushings as they squeek. Put the quad shocks back on if you took them off or dont have them installed. I removed mine.
As long as you have the 4-link style rear end and it has ANY bushing deflection, which it will unless every mounting point is a heim joint, then you have the possibility of wheelhop under acceleration.
I tossed out my quad shocks months ago and I don't miss them. It works for some, and it doesn't work for others.
