Then we went to Puerto Vallarta and we talked to another sales person there (as they approached us to buy), who informed us that "IF" we upgraded ours to SILVER the benefits would be much greater, and in fact showed us. No added cost. I think it is a fair price because the resort became much better now and it has almost doubled resort options. We haven't and probably won't use the RCI portion of the membership because we don't earn that much vacation time each year and can't afford 4 or 5 weekly vacations each year.

It's been great being able to travel and stay in luxury, but with am resorts / unlimited vacation club, to pay even $5, 000 upfront just for a 25% discount is crazy. You might have to offer the new taker an incentive such as you paying the closing costs and perhaps the next maintenance fee, but that will work out a lot cheaper that hiring some questionable company that claims it can relieve you of your timeshare. Let me tell you, these guys are good and very well trained. I am hopeful for a great experience and will update as before when I return. If you do decide to join the club and find you have a problem, forget about it, you're on your own. Our hotel warned us before we left and I wish I would have listened. AM Resorts/UVC will not allow you to do it on your own because they want to make sure that they get their additional fees.

For the first time in my many years of being in the vacation industry, i had some problems with discrimination and defamation of character and i tried to resolve these problems by trying to contact the ceo of am resorts / unlimited vacation club, alejandro zozaya gorostiza, and after numerous emails and calls, i received no response at all from her. It is not a legitimate company, so they will never give me any money back and just cite the contract terms. If you are points your better off keeping it and use to the best of your ability. I think what people do not like about it, it is the same as buying a car.

Why did I not use my newly purchased vacation club you ask: It's because they lied to me in order to get me to sign the contract by stating that they had properties all over Europe and especially in Paris. Willing to negotiate! My second most recent gripe is that we recently booked a stay at Dreams Riveria Cancun and are taking our 17 year old daughter. I will obviously never make this money back. During "presentation of 5 hours" I was told I can book now sapphire for $57/night, it actually never drops below $250/night as I found out later. I believe some of us worried so much because it is a large amount of money we have paid down. They only list 5 total hotels in all of France and only 1 in Paris and it was just outside the city limits. If you go on a presentation and they say '' this offer is good for today only'' they are lying. It was at Secrets Riviera Maya. We were also told that we could visit our home resort anytime we wanted for "free" and the only thing that we would be charged for was approximately $82 per night per person for the food, because after all, it was an all-inclusive resort. I would believe this if we did not go down at least 6-7 per year, and also when we go our friends go, and they purchased directly through a travel agents, guess what, they are always upgraded, we actually laugh about it, but it is sad, the reason they upgrade "Them" sales pitch again, the reason they do not upgrade us, we are already members. Since we always book in the preferred club I just assumed it would be the $93 then after I actually booked our stay and called UVC to add her I was told it would be $81/night.
All in all, "club" memberships are rarely (if ever) a good value and they frankly have little or no resale market interest or attraction.
If you take into consideration your large down payment and ensuing monthly payments after that, you would have been able to receive the same package (sometimes for even less), by just paying for your vacation outright. My husband and I were considering joining this club but after reading all these reviews - no thanks!

I can relate to the concerns expressed by others and have had repeated conversations with the company regarding those concerns.
freddylaurent, we are sorry that you feel that way about Unlimited Vacation Club. I had been concerned that I could not afford to stay at the resorts but the sales representative told me, after a series of complicated calculations, that with promotions it would cost $50.00 U.S. per night per person. We have also been very pleased with the additional services and benefits that came with it, like I said we saved $900 on a cruise using ice and our son and daughter-in-law went on the same cruise and were able to use the discount also on their room I found out at that time I could use the discount for up to eight rooms in any one booking. What do we need to do? Even more sad is that the sales person at OL convinced you (probably through a lot of lies and half-truths) that what you were buying was hot. Stay away from them!

It is going to take 4-6 vacations to break even then after that you start saving. He said okay he understood and did in NO way try to talk us out of our decision and told us to write out a letter, dating it and signing it, explaining that we wanted to cancel our agreement - applying our 5 day cancellation clause, which we did. We did use UVC for a trip back to the Dominican to the Now Larimar earlier this month, we thought we saved some money on the trip compared to what our friends paid thru Apple, but they bought the preferred seating on the plane; which we didn't have the option to get so I don't really know if we saved anything to be quite honest with you. After looking at contract, they were correct, but only because they had conveniently changed the verbage in the contract to something different from what we were told in the sales presentation.
