Once the cover was released, I knew that I had to read this book. If the prose and story were anything like the beauty of the cover, I knew it would be worth it, and it did not disappoint at all. Will definitely read it once its out! Every situation was set up so conveniently that there really was no conflict until the very end, and even then it was solved too swiftly. And I like that it doesnt try to provide a single answer to the questions it raises. Even when her love for the prince threatens to distract her, she pushes through. The book is soo good! Hahaha I think this does end on a happier note than Spin the Dawn! Figuring out what is the right thing to do is more complicated than we ever know and this gorgeous story uses the writing to pull you from one side to the other trying to decide with character. The only thing that kept me from loving Daughter of the Moon Goddess was how easily everything came to Xingyin. A captivating debut fantasy inspired by the legend of Chang'e, the Chinese moon goddess, in which a young womans quest to free her mother pits her against the most powerful immortal in the realm. . She never lost sight of the reason she was doing all of this. What I did enjoy about Daughter of the Moon Goddess was that Xingyin was willing and able to do whatever it took to progress her self-improvement and free her mother. Great review! There is one part that fell into the overly convenient trap, but the book was getting long enough that I didnt mind not having that dragged out.
