The only time I can think of that I would want to remove it would be once every blue moon if I want to clean out the ash that has snuck around the slight gaps around the ash collector, in which case I'd have to take out the basket to life the ash collector up and out. On the other hand, removing the D&C without removing the basket would seem to be a common occurrence: every time you want to put in or take out the Slo Roller, you have to take the D&C out as well.
