A great golf hole.
Course was full and we had to wait at most of the holes. 
The layout of the greens, well protected by greenside bunkers, as well as the many water hazards spread throughout the course, will challenge every golfer and require good course management as well as the use of every golf shot in the bag.

Once you reach the green the fun begins.
In spite of its previous use, the Avocado Tree or Persea ndica -as it is known by its original name-, is not the only tree present here, as many other endemic species like eucalyptus, orange and lemon trees, cactus, pines, fig trees, olive and mango trees make up the varied vegetation of this beautiful enclave, together with a varied population of indigenous birds, with amongst others the calzada eagle.

From the tee you will see another group of Avocado trees to your left slightly below you about 150 200 meters from the tee.

Again this hole sets you up to attack off the tee. Eucalyptus trees are spaced along the ridge in the left rough. 
The greens this time when we played in the morning were good.
Dont miss the green, not even by a meter.
Its a huge fairway, there are areas of trouble on the right, not terminal, nothing to worry about.

From the edge of the lake is a short but steep hill of 40 metres or so running up to the green. However beware, if you dont make it to the green and you leave yourself a 30 or 40 metre wedge shot you will find it tricky to get close.

Nice entrance, kind of small course with even smaller clubhouse and parking lot. Hit your tee shot to the corner and then a wedge into the green. There are bunkers short and left two bunkers long and right defending the green. What an absolute cracking little hole this is!
Decent course, poor facilities. Final drive of the day and the golf course asks you to find your finest!
I found this to be a tough tee shot.
We let them play through only to have another 4 ball race up behind us, and again they were aggressively pressurising our game to the point that it became intimidating, and it spoilt out round from there in.

The line from the tee is between the second and third bunker, it will be a driver for most folks, a long iron for the long hitters. The left of the green is guarded by four pot bunkers which will leave you with a difficult shot across the green playing directly towards the out of bounds markers!

The green is tucked away to the left, there is a lake to the right of the green. He also tried to convince us (HCP 9) that we were slowing down the game, although we had to wait at almost every tee. A long iron will reach the corner. It plays slightly shorter than the tee boxes say due to it being downhill. Buggy paths are provided throughout the golf course, beautifully integrated between the rows of fruit trees.
The rough here still has perfectly arranged Avocado trees all of which are laden with fruit.

Again tee boxes are in such nice condition, The green keepers have done a great job.
The views from the tee are magnificent and the Campillos stream provides a challenging approach to the green; or what about the 8th hole, with a length of 595 metre (650 yards) considered to be the longest hole of the Costa del Sol and favouring the longer hitter; not to forget the 12th Par 3, playing downhill, with a very large undulating green, many a golfer would be happy to walk away with a three here One of the most outstanding features of Santana Golf is without a doubt the variety in design, as each and every hole is differentiated by its own characteristics.
We were a 4 ball and we all enjoyed the round.
The tees are unblemished, close cropped, perfectly even. Again the green is a perfect surface, runs very true, easy to read as it runs from back to front and gives you the confidence to attack your birdie chance!

Santana Golf is entirely dedicated to serving visiting golfers to the Costa del Sol. Its a very difficult shot as the corner of the dogleg is protected by tall trees which block the direct line.
This one is worth a visit, even though you will struggle to get a tee time, its worth moving your schedule around to visit the course.
The hole runs downhill from the tee reaching its low point where the drives might finish and then from 90 metres in it rises to an elevated green it is a terrific hole! With Santana Golf, Mijas Golf and La Cala Golf all a few minutes from each other you have 6 top quality golf courses to enjoy. From the tee this hole looks simple. This green will defy you however you approach it!
There is a lake on the right side of the fairway which runs along the length of the fairway and guards the front of the green.
The green runs massively from front to back and from right to left. Visitors are welcome every day.A valid handicap certificate from players home club is required. Anything less than a well executed second shot is just not going to make it to the putting surface.

There is out of bounds on the right just over the cart path, the out of bounds runs close to the right side and back of the green too. And you dont want to be very far right as youve got a little pot bunker there waiting for you!.
Another delightful driving hole that just fills you with confidence.
It gives a great feeling of confidence. Just follow the instructions that the course lays out, hit the shots and make your day memorable.
You can lay up short if you need to.
I found one of the bunkers on the right with my tee shot and had about 110m to go.

If the pin is tucked away on the left side of the green then you have a daunting tee shot.
It runs along the right hand side but unless you hit an absolute stinker the lake does not come into play. The first thing you notice as you walk on to the tee box is its conditioning.
The green is banked steeply towards the lake, anything short will be collected by the water.
This Par 3 shares the lake with the 15th.
The final result is a magnificent course with wide and well defined fairways on level terrain, hence easily walkable, where water features play an important albeit not excessive part in the overall design. A big drive followed by a mighty fairway wood still leaves work to do.
Each hole has been laid out to use the terrain, the size of the green and its slope to defend it. Thank you for your help in our golf booking. The course was designed by Cabell Robinson. Our 1st course were Santana.
There are bunkers front right and middle left.
There are no easy chips on the green from the fringes if you miss and there are no easy putts!
From the tee you see a series of bunkers on the right, two of which encroach onto the fairway. If you drive it to the left these trees will affect your second shot.
To leave yourself the easiest putt you need to be short and right of the pin.
This course was quite open, though still some what a of a challenge. Of course I managed to miss the green with my second shot, luckily I left it short and left which gave me a straightforward up and down. The welcome was great and the starter especially was very friendly and helpful. There is a bottleneck close to the green.
Golfshake Apps | Its a nice wide fairway, if you prefer you can simply lay-up to your favorite wedge distance and still have a great chance of taking a shot back from the golf course!

There is a set of fairway bunkers on the left about 100 meters short of the green this is the perfect line for your drive taking you towards a generous landing area. Played this course? There is a shallow greenside bunker on the right of the green which isnt difficult and you have plenty of green to work with.

The fairways are wide and the, well protected,greens large and undulating. The 2 ball behind us were released 30 mins early straight behind us and so we felt under pressure from the start. Almost impossibld to lose balls unless you hit water.

Always immaculately maintained the course is scenically pretty and technically tough from the back tees.

The staff in the clubhouse are very welcoming, the food is good and well priced. There is a narrow point around 40m short of the green where the entrance to the green narrows significantly with more Eucalyptus trees forming columns rising high into the sky straddling the same storm drain that runs across the 4th.

Even then the wedge into the green is not so simple.
Finding the middle of the green is a good start but is no guarantee of par!
The green is defended by a large run off area at the front and right of the green.

The Golf course was nice but it was too many slow groups on the course. Cannot start it left and fade it back. Cabell Robinson designed the course at Santana, a little over ten miles from Malaga International Airport, with the benefit of his long association with Robert Trent Jones. If youre short and a little bit right there is every chance that your ball will fall off! The long Par-4 18th is one of the most demanding finishing holes along the coast according to the designer, with the lake along the right hand side and a narrow approach to the green.

Contact club for information. A great hole that presents you with decisions to make. Make sure you keep below the hole! This was my third time playing Santana, the first time in the morning, which proved to show the course in its best light. There is nothing directly in front of the green, so if you can launch one 270 metres and find the gap then you have a strong chance of picking up an eagle or a birdie!
